He has a double of Northern Dancer’s dam, Natalma, and three crosses of Natalma’s dam, Almahmoud. With just one strain of Northern Dancer, which will be in the sixth generation of his foals, PEACE RULES will be very well-suited by matings with Northern Dancer line mares. The Forty Niner branch of the Mr. Prospector line has already been responsible for stakes winners out of mares descending from Northern Dancer through Danzig, Nureyev, Deputy Minister, Dixieland Band, Nijinsky II, Sadler’s Wells, Storm Bird, Sovereign Dancer, Far North, Topsider and The Minstrel. It could also pay dividends to bring in Northern Dancer’s daughter, Fanfreluche, through her sons D’Accord, Medaille d’Or or L’Enjoleur. The Damascus line will be an outcross here, and Forty Niner line sires have worked well with Damascus line mares, this cross producing eight stakes winners and two grade one winners. Damascus has worked here via Private Account, Ogygian, Cutlass and Desert Wine. The Nasrullah line through Bold Ruler and Naskra has proved very successful with Forty Niner. Bold Ruler has worked via a wide variety of strains, including Seattle Slew, Bold Bidder (through Cannonade and his son, Caveat, and through Spectacular Bid), Secretariat, Super Concorde, What a Pleasure and Raja Baba. Forty Niner line stallions have proved to be extremely successful over In Reality line mares, this cross producing 13 stakes winners, two grade one. The cross has done particularly well via Valid Appeal and Relaunch. Olden Times is from the same War Relic male line as In Reality, and there are four stakes winners by Forty Niner and sons out of Olden Times line mares, including a grade one winner. Other strains which appeal here are Majestic Prince and his son, Majestic Light; Cox’s Ridge; AL Hattab; and Grey Dawn II.
